CVM Regional Conference 2011

Regional Day Highlights

Christian Vision for Men Regional Day - 12 February 2011.

Over 90 men from Herefordshire and beyond gathered at Hereford Baptist Church on Saturday 12th February for an event titled ‘Men After God’.

It is the aim of the national Christian Vision for Men movement (CVM) to “Equip the church to introduce every man in the UK to Jesus Christ.” It attempts to do this through a variety of events, campaigns and media resources, so that churches can inspire, motivate and challenge its men at a grassroots level to make church and Christianity relevant and meaningful in todays society.

The day began with fresh coffee and cakes which set the tone of the day as being one of great food, fellowship and learning. The General Director of CVM - Carl Beech opened proceedings with a keynote session on the ‘Codelife’ movement - see Codelife. Codelife is a rule of life for men that helps them to stay gripped and focussed on living a full on, uncompromised Jesus centred life, in company with others. Men are reporting this to be life changing!

After a short refreshment break, where the games console, table football and pool table were suitably utilised, there was a choice of seminars with Nick Welford delivering a session titled ‘Living above the Parapet for the Sake of others’, and Alex Wilmott challenging us about‘Christianity in the Workplace’.

A cracking lunch was appreciated by all in attendance as the empty plates testified!

Another choice of seminars in the afternoon saw Alex repeating his morning session, with Dave Partington highlighting the dangers of ‘Worldly Addictions’ to those both inside and outside the church.

The closing seminar by Alex saw his Welsh sense of humour come to the fore as he told us about his conversion, focussing on the message that Jesus is for all, and how vital it is for Men in the church to stand together as a band of brothers and to be the Men we know we ought to be, as God created us to be. The final worship proved to be a rousing and moving conclusion to the event and we look forward to being involved in another Regional Day in November 2012.
